Job Vacancy For Portfolio Accountant
A leading financial services group operating from Accra with operations in investment banking, securities trading and investment management, seeks to employ highly qualified professionals to fill the following position: Portfolio Accountant
Duties
• Prepare timely and accurate Net Asset Value (NAV) of funds and investment porfolios, yields, distributions and other fund accounting output reports for review
• Write reports periodically to management on portfolio activities and other related issues
• Prepare, reconcile and distribute reports to/from marketing, custodians and investment management
• Research, as assigned, certain securities fund portfolios for the purpose of ensuring proper accounting treatment (such as the nature of distributions and original issue discounts) and compliance with investment management and other regulations, tax and prospectus restrictions and limitations
• Record accurately, and in accordance with the firm's policies and procedures, such accounting records as securities positions, corporate actions and journal entries
• Reconcile various bank accounts or review reconciliations prepared by others and correct any variance promptly
• Assist, as assigned, in preparing audit schedules, portfolio reports, tax returns, financial statements, or other report.
• Prepare periodic accounts for the fund and periodic reports to the regulators
• Perform related duties and projects as assigned by supervisor
Qualification Required & Experience
• A minimum of 5 years of work experience in a similar role
• A good first degree from any reputable university, preferably in Accounting
• A professional qualification from ICAG, ACCA or CIMA would be an added advantage
Specific Skills Requirements
• Ability to plan and coordinate the accounting functions effectively
• Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures
• Knowledge of computerized accounting systems and other PC applications
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills
• High level of integrity
