Title: Principal Officer, Legal
Reports To: Head of Department, Legal

Job Summary: Support the Head of Department, Legal, in ensuring regulatory compliance within the gold trade. Provide legal expertise, manage contracts, and assist with government liaison to ensure the company's operations align with national and international gold trade regulations.

?Key Responsibilities:

• Provide legal advisory services on regulatory compliance, contracts, and governance matters related to the gold trade.
• Assist with contract management by supporting the drafting, review, and negotiation of complex legal contracts.
• Prepare legal documentation and assist in interpreting and applying national and international gold trade regulations.
• Conduct in-depth legal research on relevant legislation and case law to ensure compliance with evolving industry standards.
• Analyse potential legal risks associated with gold trade operations and provide recommendations for mitigation.
• Liaise with government agencies, stakeholders, and external legal counsel as required to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Support internal departments with legal insights to ensure operational alignment with regulatory standards.
• Assist in training and development of staff on legal and compliance matters related to the gold trade.

Qualification Required & Experience

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Paralegal Studies, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a legal environment.
• Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to draft and edit legal documents effectively.
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
• High ethical standards and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
