The Ghana Health Service is an autonomous Agency of the Ministry of Health responsible for providing and prudently managing comprehensive and accessible health service at Regional, District and Sub-district levels in accordance with approved national policies. To achieve this, the GHS must attract and appoint suitably qualified personnel to carry out its mandate at various operational levels.
Job Summary
Background:
Following the declaration of Maternal Mortality as a national emergency by the Minister of Health in July 2008, the Ministry of Health/Ghana Health Service and Development Partners developed the Millennium Development Goal 5 Acceleration Framework (MAF) to identify the constraints to implementation of existing plans and strategies towards the achievement of the Maternal Mortality Goal and to explore the reasons why pregnant women continue to die in Ghana. The resulting MAF Operational Plan seeks to contribute to the reduction of maternal mortality from 45/100,000 live births in 2008 to 185/100,000 live births by year 2015 and to contribute to reduction in institutional maternal mortality ration from 196/100,000 live births in 2015.
To achieve these goals, the Ghana Health Service invites applications from Qualified Ghanaians to fill the above vacancy on contract basis.
Job Purpose:
To provide administrative support to the Project.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist in the day-to-day running of the project including personnel matters, inventory and stock control and appropriate record keeping
• Assist in organising project review meetings, workshops and seminarswith stakeholders
• Arrange other relevant meetings, compile agenda and minutes of meetings to provide a high level of support to the project and ensure that accurate records of discussions are produced
• Contribute to the planning and execution of project activities and programmes
• Assist in the preparation of work plans and budgets of the project
• Participate in the preparation and submission of periodic project reports
• Supervise activities of Regional Administrative Assistants
Condition: Offer is available for a contract term of two (2) years effective March 04, 2013
Compensation: The compensation package for the project is very attractive
Qualification Required & Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in the Socia Sciences/Management/Administration plus one year work experience in the health industry
• Knowledge of MOH/GHS policies and operating procedures, administrative practices and office procedures would be an added advantage
