Description Of Job

Concern Universal Ghana begins the implementation of a 30-month European Union/ACP funded Microfinance project which will start in July 2012, working across 6 districts in Brong Ahafo, Eastern and Volta Regions of Ghana. We seek suitably qualified candidates to fill the above position.

Purpose:
The Programme Manager will provide leadership for the CU Ghana Programme team, providing critical support to the Acting Country Director to ensure all projects are managed to effectively while new projects are developed to ensure that the Country Programme remains adequately funded. The post holder will also have direct project management responsibility for the EU-ACP Banking for the Poor Project.

Responsibilities:

. Provide dynamic leadership and team co-ordination to the Banking for the Poor Project team
. Ensure for optimal programme quality and efficient delivery of all CU Ghana project according to donor requirements and agreements
. Effectively liaise with implementation Partners and other stakeholders as well as the Finance and other departments
. Ensure that all CU Ghana partners pursue a programme of continual learning, documenting and capitalising
. Lead in developing funding strategies for the various thematic and strategic areas requiring funding within the programme; under the supervision and drive of the Acting Country Director
. Work with project co-ordinators, partners and the finance manager in preparing and submitting proposals in line with the specific funding strategies
. Ensure timely reporting and communication on donor contracts and internal monthly reporting within CU
. To work with all Project Coordinators to ensure a coordinated approach to donor grant management
. Assist the Acting Country Director in building donor relations and in attending meetings with donors as appropriate and required, and maintaining timely communication with donors in conjunction with Project co-ordinators and Acting Country Director

Qualification Required & Experience

Professional requirement and Preferred experience:

. Masters degree in Development oriented field or other relevant subjects
. Minimum of three year experience in similar roles, with some in a project management capacity
. Proven proposal writing and budget design experience
. Experience of community based microfinance programme preferably Village Savings and Loans schemes will be an advantage
. Knowledge, experience and appreciation of the dynamics of local NGOs and community based development practices
