Job Vacancy For Project Co-ordinator, PAGES Project At Plan Ghana (Wa)

PAGES Project for the period October 2012 to June 2015. The position is located in the Upper West Programme Unit office, Wa and reports to the Project Manager.

About the Project:
This Project involves Promoting African Grassroot Economic Security (PAGES) through Education and Skills. It is a Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) funded project in collaboration with Plan Ghana. PAGES goal in Ghana is that within 5 years, children, youth, women and men will receive skills, economic resources and quality education to support and enable greater household economic security. The Project is being implemented in parts of Upper West, Volta and Central Regions of Ghana.

Job Purpose:
To co-ordinate and support the implementation of the PAGES project.

Key Responsibilities:

•  Co-ordinate and supervise project activities in the communities and Programme Units
•  Ensure regular review and evaluation of the programme, identify and share lessons learnt with the Project Manager
•  Contribute to the collection and documentation of best practices and lessons learnt from programme implementation and share findings with Partners, Plan staff and CNO team during steering committee meetings and PAGES yearly
•  Undertake regular field visit to project communities to provide technical support to staff of local partners on the PAGES project
•  Co-ordinate the collection of PAGES monitoring and evaluation data tools and input into the PAGES database at the PU level
•  Co-ordinate programme activities in the communities and assist the Project Manager to prepare progress reports
•  Provide support to partners to form and train VS&L groups in communities
•  Establish close collaboration with District Assembly, District Education departments and project communities and the regions
•  Ensure that the project is accountable to all relevant stake-holders, by making program results and information readily available
•  Participate in project review meetings, workshops and training when required, prepare and make presentations at meetings, workshops and conference
•  Fulfills Plan's Child Protection Policy at all times to ensure children are protected from all forms of abuse

Qualification Required & Experience

About you: Knowledge, Experience, Skills, and Attitudes Required to Achieve Role's Objectives:
Knowledge and Experience:

•  In depth knowledge in Social Sciences or related fields
•  Demonstrable knowledge and practice of at least three years experience in similar position within NGO's or Government institutions/programmes at the local level
•  Adequate knowledge in monitoring and evaluation
•  Strong knowledge of the Rights of Children

Skills:

•  Strong initiative and ability to resolve problems with little supervision
•  Proven strategic thinking skills
•  Excellent communication skills: Written, interpersonal and presentational
•  Fluency in English and at least one local language
•  Proficient in Microsoft applications and use of relevant software and other applications, e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, database, Internet
•  Good knowledge of data management software (SPSS, Word, Excel)
•  Good report writing skills
•  Good Analytical skills
•  Good Communication skills, appropriate to the audience
•  Strong negotiating, facilitating and influencing skills
•  Ability to drive motorcycle is an added advantage
