Duty Station: Accra / Contract Duration: One year with possible Extension

Job Summary:
Contribute towards the engagement of a variety of radio and knowledge partners in developing a "Rural Radio 2.0" strategy in Ghana that leads to increased production and consumption of OFSP by at least 100,000 rural households.

The selected candidate will be responsible for implementing project activities, including: convening advisory group meetings, identifying and engaging radio partners, providing capacity development supports to the partner radio stations, overseeing pre-production, production, broadcast and programme monitoring activities, and participating in the outcome evaluations.

Key Responsibilities:

•  Develop relationships, memoranda of understanding, and action plans with strategic partners
•  Co-ordinate capacity building of four (4) partner radio stations and other stakeholders in Ghana to produce effective RR 2.0 for OFSP promotion
•  Pre-production research and planning of RR 2.0 OFSP promotion radio programmes. And this responsibility includes the formation of content Advisory Panel, Baseline, Formative Research and convene design workshop
•  Facilitate the production and broadcast of RR 2.0 promotion programmes by four (4) radio stations
•  Establish and implement a monitoring and evaluation systems for the project and share learning with all
•  Co-ordinate and nurture partnerships with stakeholders in the farm radio industry to ensure networking, sustainability and scaling out of effective RR 2.0 OFSP promotion programme
•  Any other duties as may be assigned by supervisor from time-to-time

Qualification Required & Experience

•  A minimum of first degree in Mass communication, Journalism, Media for Development, Arts, Agricultural extension and/or Social Sciences
•  Second degree in project management will be added advantage
•  Related 3-5 years hand on experience in radio broadcasting either as a producer and/or presenter
•  Solid understanding of the radio broadcasting policy and institutional environment in Ghana
•  Understanding of the potential of radio and ICTs in agricultural extension and rural development in Ghana
•  Good communication, writing, networking and interpersonal skills
•  Skills in participatory research approaches, facilitation and community mobilisation

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•  Excellent Broadcasting Skills and Development Journalism
•  Skills in training design and implementation and contract management
•  Skills/Readiness to learn the use of ICT for development such as SMS and IVR
•  Good communication, writing, networking and interpersonal skills
•  Ability to mobilise partners and nurturing networks
•  Working knowledge of data and word processing computer packages eg: Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
