Job Summary
ActionAid Ghana (AAG), an Affiliate of ActionAid is looking to employ experienced and self-motivated individuals to fill the above position.
Role of Overview:
Reporting to the Head of Finance/IT & Fundraising, the Project Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of donor projects as well as supporting project partners to establish effective financial management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for overall financial management of projects implemented in the Affiliate Programme
• Support proposal development and cost activities of concept notes and proposals using appropriate costing templates and formats
• Review all projects budgets to ensure that activities planned and budgets allocated are in compliance with donor contracts
• Support Programme Officers, Partners and other regional team members to complete costing and budgeting templates
• Prepare and present financial report to management to aid decision-making
• Support audit of donor projects activities and follow up on implementation of audit recommendations
• Maintain petty cash for approved foreign currencies at approved levels to facilitate effective exchange management
Job Circumstances:
This is a three (3) year renewable contract employment on national terms and conditions. The role involves travel to project communities and outside Ghana. It also entails frequent working beyond regular hours.
Base Salary: GH¢1,664.80 (Band 4: Step 1)
Qualification Required & Experience
Academic Qualification:
• 1st Degree in Accounting and Finance related field + 7 years' relevant experience or
• 2nd Degree in Accounting and Finance related field + 3 years' relevant experience
• Professional Accounting qualification (Part 3 - ACCA, CIMA, ICA, CPA) + 2 years' relevant experience
Essential Knowledge/Experience:
• Must have good knowledge of the use of accounting software (knowledge of SUN Accounting and Vision Executive is an added advantage)
• Must have strong knowledge of internal control and budget/cash flow monitoring
• Must have a good knowledge of international acccounting standards
Competencies:
• Integrity, good judgement, leadership, analytical thinking, attention to detail, excellent interpersonal- communication and negotiation skills, team working including virtual team working, innovative mind set, initiative, high levels of gender and child sensitivity and stress tolerance.
