Job Vacancy For Road Safety Coordinator For Road Policing At Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA)



The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), in partnership with the Bloombery Foundation and Union North America (UNA), is seeking to recruit dynamic and seasoned professionals for a 5-year contract employment under the Bloomberg Road Safety Initiative for the city of Accra in the following position:- Road Safety Coordinator For Road Policing

Position: Road Safety Coordinator For Road Policing

This Office shall be located in the Enforcement Department of AMA and shall work in close collaboration with the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit/Department of the Ghana Police Service. The officer shall report to the Road Safety Initiative Coordinator

Key Responsibilities:

•   Coordinate AMA's work to enhance enforcement of road traffic laws and regulations to reduce unsafe and illegal/unacceptable road-user behaviour particularly related to:
- Speeding
- Crash helmet wearing
- Driving under the influence of alcohol
- Use of seat belts and child restraints

•   Develop detailed work plans in collaboration with the project initiative partners, with clear milestones and relevant targets for police related components of the project
•   Support the development and delivery of evidence based/data driven road law enforcement activities
•   Monitor and support progress of work towards work plan milestones
•   Serve as focal person for the interaction of AMA and project initiative partner organisation (Global Road Safety Partnership) providing technical assistance to the road traffic Police
•   Communicate regularly with the Road Safety Initiative Coordinator
•   Report regularly on progress of the project to senior officials responsible for enforcement of road traffic law and regulations and to UNA and other relevant project partners and stakeholders
•   Submit written progress reports on the project
•   Troubleshoot barriers to progress of the project and identify opportunities for rapid success

Qualification Required & Experience

•   First Degree in any Academic field
•   Master's will be an advantage
•   7 years of experience at a senior position (not below the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit/Department of the Ghana Police Service
•   Experience in Traffic Law Enforcement and Management

Relevant Skills and Abilities

•   Familiarity with Road Traffic Act 683 and Road Traffic Regulations 2012, LI 2180 and related amendments
•   Familiarity with the roads/streets of Accra and road safety/ traffic enforcement systems in the city of Accra
•   Proficiency in English language
