A reputable building, civil and mining construction company operating in Ghana invites interested and qualified applicants to apply for the following position: Safety Officer
Job Summary
• The Safety Officer role is responsible for the protection and safety of all employees and visitors to the site. The safety officer makes sure risks of hazards at project sites and offices are controlled and ensures that the company complies with all aspects of health and safety regulations
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, implement and maintain an effective safety programme that meets project requirements
• Identify safety training needs, organise and ordinate safety meetings and training
• Liaise with project team to identify unsafe acts, conditions and hazards, investigate root causes and identify corrective and preventative actions and report to management
• Co-ordinate at evacuation exercises to ensure that all staff become familiar with these procedures
• Communicate changes in safety and environment legislation to management
Qualification required & experience
• Must have a proven track record as safety officer/manager for minimum of 5 years
• Skills for hazard identification & risk assessments, legal liability, incident investigation a must
• Must have thorough knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
• Must have track record of good leadership skills and be able to confidently take charge
• Ability to communicate and report effectively using appropriate ICT channels
• Fluency in written and spoken French is added advantage
