Golden Star Resources is a growing Company with two operating mines in Ghana and other projects at various stages of development. The Company's Bogoso/Prestea operations, located 10km south of the town of Bogoso in the Western Region of Ghana, is in the process of expanding with the commissioning of a new BIOX Plant in 2007. To supplement its open pit production, the Company is evaluating the feasibility of resuming Underground operations.
Description Of Job
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct investigation into theft, fraud, malicious damage, robbery and other transgressions by and against GSR and employees at all GSR operations in Ghana;
• Interview and obtain written statements from suspects and witnesses;
• Collect, preserve and document all evidence and specimens relating to investigations;
• Prepare reports on ongoing and complete investigations and make recommendations to management for further action;
• Maintain confidential records of current and past investigations;
• Maintain a strong bond with key external law enforcing bodies {Ghana Police, Bureau of National Investigation, Mines Inspectorate, Military etc}
• Establish intelligence gathering network;
• Liaise with members of the judicial system and serve as GSR representative in court and as the Security representative at Disciplinary Hearings;
• Compile weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on crimes, thefts and illegal mining activities carried out on the company's concession;
• Ensure consistent improvement in security deliverables (investigation, audit, sox compliance, background checks etc); and
• Perform any other related duties assigned from time to time by head of security
Qualification Required & Experience
• Minimum of WASSCE or Certificate in Security Investigation from a recognised national security institution with at least five (5) years working experience in security investigations;
• Previous commendable work with any private or public security organisation will be an added advantage;
• Ability to deliver work on tight deadlines;
• Excellent analytical and investigation skills;
• Ability to pay attention to details;
• Excellent report writing and communication skills;
• Must be fluent in spoken English and Akan language;
• Must reliable, dedicated and a good team player;
• Must be computer literate; Ms Word, Ms Excel, Power point etc;
• Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving licence
