ActionAid Ghana (AAG), an Affiliate of ActionAid is looking to employ experienced and self-motivated individuals to fill the above position.
Duty Station: Northern Local Rights Programme (Tamale)
Role of Overview:
Reporting to the Local Rights Programme (LRP) Manager, the Senior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day management of the LRP finance as well as supporting LRP partners to establish effective financial management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and present financial report to management to aid decision-making
• Provide the necessary budget and costing guidelines to the programme team
• Review payment requests and supporting documents and make recommendations for approval
• Review cost classification for transactions processed in SUN to ensure that they are in line with approved classification and budget
• Support audit of LRP and follow up on implementation of audit recommendations
• Consolidate LRP budgets and prepare cash flows in accordance with expenditure phasing per activities costing
• Support proposal development and cost activities of concept notes and proposals using appropriate activity costing sheets and donor formats
• Design appropriate support and capacity building programmes to support partner institutions
Job Circumstances:
This is a three (3) year renewable contract employment on national terms and conditions. The role involves frequent travel to local communities. It also entails frequent working beyond regular hours.
Base Salary: GH¢1,664.80 (Band 4: Step 1)
Qualification Required & Experience
Academic Qualification:
• 1st Degree in Accounting and Finance related field + 7 years' relevant experience or
• 2nd Degree in Accounting and Finance related field + 3 years' relevant experience
• Professional Accounting qualification (Part 3 - ACCA, CIMA, ICA, CPA) + 2 years relevant experience
Essential Knowledge/Experience:
• Must have good knowledge of the use of accounting software (knowledge of SUN Accounting and Vision Executive is an added advantage)
• Must have strong knowledge of internal control and budget/cash flow monitoring
• Must have a good knowledge of international accounting standards
Competencies:
• Integrity, good judgement, leadership, analytical thinking, attention to detail, excellent interpersonal- communication and negotiation skills, team working including virtual team working, innovative mind set, initiative, high levels of gender and child sensitivity and stress tolerance
