The Canadian High Commission seeks to engage the services of a Senior Environmental Advisor who will provide professional, technical, strategic and advisory support to the CIDA Ghana Programme team.

Status: Full Time Consultant (up to 20 days/month)
Duration: 2 years (plus 1 year renewable)

Scope of Work:
The Senior Environment Advisor will work closely with the CIDA Ghana Programme Team to provide technical assistance, project and programme monitoring, and advise on programme design and implementation.

Qualification Required & Experience

Mandatory Requirements:

•  Must be legally and operationally in a position to work in Ghana
•  Must have an advanced degree (master's or doctoral degree) from a recognized University or relevant graduate diploma of a national institute in the field of environmental sciences, natural resources management, geography, agricultural sciences or other comparable fields
•  Must have a minimum of 10 years recent (within past 20 years) experience working in advisory capacity in the area of environmental sustainability or natural resources management or environmental assessment as it relates to rural development or agriculture/food security or water and sanitation

Other Technical  Requirements:

Applicants will also be assessed based on other technical requirements such as understanding of environmental and natural resources issues in Ghana, especially those affecting food security/agriculture and water and sanitation such as desertification and climate change; experience in project planning/design, monitoring and environmental assessments; practical experience in northern Ghana; and understanding of Ghana's environmental laws and regulations
