OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build and coordinate communication and technical exchange between various groups implementing best practices throughout West African region. Raise and maintain profile of project’s effect on health in region. Ensure communication and collaboration among project technical staff in geographically distant areas in region. Develop standard operating procedures for documentation and dissemination of Best Practices and Key Intervention Packages.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop protocols for technical exchange and collaboration within and between groups who are implementing the project’s Key Intervention Packages (KIPs) through the Learning Collaborative Approach.
• Coordinate and lead communication in the Learning Collaboratives.
• Coordinate and train users of project information systems to work effectively.
• Work with local journalists to promote project’s impact on the region’s population.
• Develop supporting material to disseminate impact of project within the region.
• Share Best Practices and project knowledge and experience with other projects in MSH.
• Develop communication protocols for internal communication among project technical staff.
• Collaborate with the Administrative Assistant for Information Technology to identify robust, simple sustainable platforms for knowledge storage, sharing and collaboration within the project and also with project participants and stakeholders.
• Take part in, and play an active role in technical exchange networks
• Develop standard operating procedures for the capture of key intervention packages for dissemination.
• Lead the process of report writing and packaging.
• Develop standard operating procedures for external communication of project impact.
Qualification Required & Experience
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional work experience in knowledge management, marketing, communications, journalism, or library sciences.
• Minimum of 6 years experience in a similar knowledge management role, preferably on a USG-funded project.
• Experience in international development and global health preferred, knowledge of international programs, strategies, donors and organizations.
• Experience in media training.
• Experience in facilitating teamwork in geographically separated teams.
• Knowledge of health communications, brand development, special events, and advocacy.
• Demonstrated competence to assess priorities and manage a variety of activities in a time-sensitive environment, and meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality.
• Excellent writing and editing skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and public communication skills.
• Ability to network and facilitate strong working relationships between partners.
• Understanding of knowledge management and experience adopting, adapting, and applying knowledge to communicate more effectively.
• Experience in organizing and implementing events and programs.
• In-depth appreciation of IT and its utilization.
• Fundamental understanding of information content and associated issues.
• Experience in evaluating and conducting operations research around the impact of knowledge uptake.
• Proven ability to develop effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Fluency in English and French required.
