An international mining company in the Western Region, has urgent vacancies for a Senior Mine Geologist to supervise daily mine geology and grade control activities to ensure daily production targets are met; ensure that grade control drilling and production database are maintained in good standing and that the functionality of the database is maintained to deliver required outputs; provide technical geological input in daily, weekly and monthly mine plans and meetings.

Responsibilities:

•  Planning and implementation of grade control drilling and sampling programs
•  Complete ore block designs using appropriate grade control models and geology
•  Ensure ore block mark-up is correct
•  Maintain material tracking system
•  Supervise mining activities to minimize dilution and ore losses during production
•  Carry out geological mapping in active pit areas
•  Attend regular mine planning meetings
•  Actively look for ways to reduce cost and increase revenues

Qualification Required & Experience

•  Degree in Geology, Geological Engineering or related field
•  Minimum of 4 years experience in mine geology
•  Excellent geological mapping skills
•  Experience with geological block modelling for grade control (MP3 preferred)
•  Proficiency in geological and mining related software (Surpac, Micromine)
•  Experience in geological databases (AcQuire)
•  Good communication skills
