Project Brief:

• The Support to the Private and Financial Sector in Ghana (PFS) aims to improve the employment situation of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in Ghana. In one key focus area, the program facilitates access to finance for green businesses, creating a pipeline of bankable green projects.
• It helps businesses become investment-ready, strengthens their business proposals, and connects them with green financiers. Additionally, the program has collaborated with the Ministry of Finance to develop the first phase of Ghana's Green Finance Taxonomy.

Scope of Role:

• We are seeking a Technical Advisor to drive the implementation of green finance initiatives to support the growth of sustainable businesses in Ghana.
• Key responsibilities include facilitating access to finance for green projects, building partnerships with financial institutions to promote green lending and investment, and contributing to the development and implementation of green finance policies and regulations

Tasks:

• Support the development and implement strategies to facilitate access to finance for green projects.
• Build strong relationships with financial institutions to promote green lending and investment.
• Contribute to the development of innovative financial products and services in green finance.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of green finance policies and regulations.
• Prepare capacity building support to financial institutions on green finance.
• Support cooperation and dialogue with government agencies, the private sector, NGOs, and other stakeholders on the issue of green finance.
• Responsible for the preparation and implementation of conferences, workshops, and other events connected to green finance.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of green finance initiatives on economic growth and environmental sustainability.
• Ensure knowledge management and knowledge transfer to implementing partners and to external audiences

Qualification Required & Experience

• University degree in finance, economics, or a similar subject (advance degree is an advantage)
• At least 5 years’ professional experience in the financial sector
• Proven experience in sustainable finance, climate finance, or development finance.
• Strong understanding of project appraisal and financial instruments.
• High level of organizational, communication, reporting, and writing skills
• Ability to prioritize and deliver assigned tasks diligently under strict deadlines
• Excellent skills in writing and speaking English
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in MS Office, ideally MS Office 365.
• Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management.
• Ability to work under pressure of deadlines, high degree of flexibility, attention to detail.
