Job Vacancy For Technical Coordinator At Ministry of Food & Agriculture
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has established dialogue and governance platforms for engaging Government of Ghana, Development Partners, Civil Societies and the private sector to deliberate on strategic policy issues, share information to improve planning and implementation and ensure good sector governance- Existing platforms include: the Medium Term Sector Investment Program Steering Committee (MSC), Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support System (SAKSS), Joint Sector Review (JSR), Agricultural Sector Working Group (ASWG) and Business meetings. MoFA is in charge of the secretariat and it is tasked with supporting the operation of these various platforms. A Technical Coordinator is needed in the secretariat.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The TC will work under the Secretariat and will assist the heads of the various platforms in supporting and fulfilling the following roles in service to the platforms:
• Providing research information and any other information/documents) requested by the members of platforms.
• Providing support for the implementabon of the workplans of the various Platforms.
• Providing support for the meetings of the various platforms including background documents, action plan and meeting briefs preparation.
• Ensuring continual flow of information within and between the members of platforms and to stakeholders in general.
• Supporting coordination and collaboration in the work of the various platforms
• Supporting the SAKSS coordinator in overall administration of the SAKSS and in ensuring that work plans and research program of the SAKSS are developed and efficiently implemented.
• Continually engaging with the research community to deepen research-policy linkages and managing the SAKSS network .
• Working with the MSC to source funds for the implementation of the SAKSS workplan.
• Working with the MSC to advocate for the dissemination and use of the results of the Ghana-SAKSS.
• Continually updating MOFA senior management and other stakeholders on the research and operational problems identified in meetings of the various platforms.
• Creatively strengthening the demand and supply of research for decision making in the agriculture sector.
• Prepare, submit and present bi-annual reports on the operations and the activities of the Secretariat.
Duration of contract: One year with possibility of extension
Qualification Required & Experience
• At least a Masters degree (obtained via research) in agricultural economics/policy other related agric-sciences or the social sciences
• Five (5) years working experince in similar or related fields
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point and the internet
• Knowledge of the agriculture policy process in Ghana, including METASIP/SAKSS mechanisms, would be an advantage. '
• Experience in leading associations or networks of people would be an advantage.
• Experience in initiating, completing and disseminating research results would be an advantage.
• Ability to use SPSS, STATA or other econometric/modelling package would be an advantage.
