Job Vacancy For Vice-Principal (Junior School)



G.I.S seeks a Vice-Principal for the Junior School (Students aged 7-11 years) to provide educational leadership and administrative direction to the section, in consultation with the Principal, in support of the policy decisions of the Board of Directors and in line with the aims and objectives of the school.

Key Responsibilities

•   Provide for the organization, planning, timetabling, evaluation and reporting needed to implement the junior curriculum
•   Oversee the development of the curriculum, schemes of work and assessment and the selection of teaching materials.
•   Contribute to the development, monitoring and evaluation of the school's policies on Teaching and learning and on assessment, recording and reporting.
•   Ensure that the developmental needs of Junior students are addressed through programmes of personal, social and health education and an effective system of pastoral care.

Staff Management

•   Observe and evaluate, in person and through delegation, the professional performance of Junior section teachers, and ensure the effective implementation of the appraisal policy.

Junior Section Administration

•   Take direct responsibility for the day-to-day management, organisation and supervision of all Junior Section personnel and operations
•   Oversee health, safety and emergency policies and procedures as they apply to the Junior Section
•   Plan, schedule and conduct meetings essential to administrative effectiveness and the improvement of teaching and learning in the Junior section
•   Oversee the ordering and administering of Cambridge primary checkpoint assessments.
•   Plan and coordinate the junior section calendar, in consultation with the Principal and the other Vice-Principals (Secondary and Infacts).

Communications

•   Represent the Junior Section to parents, keeping them informed as the programmes, activities and successes of the school.
•   Ensure the maintenance of systems for reporting student performance to parents, both in writing and through parent-teacher conferences.

Resources and Plant

•   Contribute to the budgeting process by obtaining and collating bids for educational resources from Junior school teachers.
•   Allocate fairly the agreed final Junior Section budget as approved by the Board of Directors.
•   Advise the Principal on the maintenance and physical development of the Junior Section.

Board Operations

•   Attend meetings of the Board of Directors, ex-officio.
•   Assist the Principal in advising the Board of Directors on policy development and all matters pertaining to the operation and welfare of the Junior Section.
•   Enforce the policy directives of the Board insofar as they apply to the Junior Section.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   University degree from an accredited educational institution
•   Certification in Educational Leadership, or Administration and supervision
•   Have a minimum of five years excellent experience in teaching and/or administration

Relevant Competencies:

•   Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and the ability to motivate people
•   Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of effective discipline strategies and motivation, curriculum development and program evaluation, child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis and research related to learning
