The Canadian High Commission seeks to engage the services of a Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Advisor who will provide professional, technical, strategic and advisory support to the CIDA Ghana Programme team.

Status: Full Time Consultant (up to 20 days/month)
Duration: 2 years (with possibility of 1-year renewal)

Scope of Work:

The WASH Advisor will work closely with the CIDA Ghana Programme WASH team to provide technical assistance, project and programme monitoring, and advise on programme design and implementation.

Mandatory Requirements:

•  The Consultant must be a Ghanaian citizen or a current resident in Ghana for a minimum of twelve (12) consecutive months. Any non-Ghanaian citizen will be required to provide a valid residence and work permit (for a minimum of twelve (12) months)
•  The Consultant must have an advanced degree (master's or doctoral degree) from a recognised university or relevant graduate diploma of a national institute in the field of environmental studies, public finance or administration, political sciences, development studies or other comparable fields
•  The Consultant must have a minimum of 7 years recent experience (within past 12 years) working in an advisory capacity in the area of water and sanitation in Ghana, including a strong rural water and basic sanitation component

Other Technical Requirements:

Applicants will also be assessed based on other technical requirements such as familiarity with development challenges in Ghana's northern regions, experience in project planning and monitoring, and understanding of WASH policies/strategies, the impact of decentralization and the mandates of key central and local governments and agencies involved in the WASH sector in Ghana
