Penplusbytes is not-for-profit organisation that works in governance and accountability, new media and innovations as well as oil, gas and mining sectors. The organisation aims to contribute to a future in which quick access to better information contributes to making democracy in Africa more tangible.

To provide leadership for the development and implementation of Penplusbytes’ fundraising, partnership and outreach activities in order to secure funding, technical support organisational core costs and for program work in mining, oil & gas, technology & governance and new media innovations.

Reporting to the President, the Fundraising and Partnerships Coordinator will forge partnerships and reach out to organisation stakeholders and primary target and to solicit project ideas and funding.

The incumbent will work with the President and program managers to engage with stakeholders across government parliament and private sector. This post will involve occasional local and international travel

•   Strong Understanding of new media and governance sector
•   Strong persuading, influencing, communications and writing skills:
•   Ability to effectively work with multi-disciplinary teams in ambiguously or undefined problem spaces.
•   Demonstrated sense of initiative and problem-solving skills.
•   Understanding of sector partners’ workflows and agendas;
•   Excellent computer and online skills

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Minimum first-level university degree in combination with two additional years qualifying experience
•   Experience with technology innovation and demonstrated ability to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders
•   Practical work experience in marketing, public relations and/or management activities related to partnerships building
•   Demonstrated success in negotiations with government, donor agencies and private sector actors.
•   Experience with writing proposals for funding from multi-donors.
