Role Purpose
Reporting to the Consumer & Market Understanding Manager, the holder will lead the geospatial market and consumer understanding efforts of MICGH to ensure timely availability of location-based market insights and the local relevance of MICGH’s initiatives, offerings and executions.
Key Responsibilities
Customer and Market Profiling
• Integrate and analyse market research data, official statistics and internal MIS to adequately profile our customers and markets at both national and decentralized levels (territories, regions, circuits, etc);
• Liaise with various national and local governmental agencies, research institutions and other organizations to access secondary data for a robust geo-marketing capability;
• Provide in-depth understanding of regional operational and financial performance
Footprint Expansion
• Recommend and drive the prioritization of network coverage expansion efforts with rigorous market analysis;
• Support Marketing, Customer Operations, Sales & Distribution, MFS and Enterprise Business with insights for roll-out efforts (Outdoor visibility, POS deployment, etc);
• Lead the development and use of user-friendly GIS tools for spatial awareness, decision making and executions.
Market Intelligence
• Lead the benchmarking of MICGH’s regional/territorial footprint versus competition and customer needs;
• Proactively gather intelligence on competitors in the regions.
Site Performance and Profitability / CAPEX Optimization
• Work with data warehouse to share regular dashboards for tracking the performance and profitability of sites (2G and 3G traffic, revenues, subscribers, various quality indicators);
• Share insights and recommendations for initiatives to improve performance of low performing sites / branches.
Execution Excellence
• Work with TMs, DSMs, DCMs, BICs and various own branches to ensure rigor in the execution of various MICGH’s localized initiatives;
Qualification Required & Experience
Position Requirements
• University degree in Economics, Statistics, Marketing, Operations Research or Geography with adequate Business Courses;
• Master’s Degree in Business is a plus;
• 4+ years relevant post National Service working experience in Telecoms/FMCG;
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in data analysis, marketing surveys, research oriented;
• In-depth experience in Business Analysis & Planning;
• Experience using statistical packages (SPSS or other), data mining & geo-marketing modeling (Pitney Bowes Business Insight / MapInfo or other GIS tools);
• Aware of various sources for official statistics;
• Experience in database management (systems & processes) highly desired;
• Knowledge of consumer behavior and psychology.

• Capability to lead cross-functional business development projects / workshops (preparation, presentation, moderation, collection of inputs, consolidation of results, follow up on actions)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills (English and at least two local Ghanaian languages)
• Ability to work under pressure and time constraints
• Computer literate and tech savvy.
• Ability to work effectively with a wide range of cultures in a diverse community.
• Willingness to travel on research assignments within Ghana at short notice and for extended durations
• Excellent interpersonal skills (able to engage strangers with little difficulty)
• Maintains confidentiality of information and uses information appropriately
