Job Title: Head, Actuarial / Chief Risk Officer

This role player reports directly to the General Manager, Operations and will be responsible for providing ongoing technical and analytical support to the Department. The Head, Actuarial will also be responsible for actuarial and risk analysis used to develop pricing for new and existing products in line with management and company objectives.

Functions & Responsibilities

•   Performing in-depth quantitative analysis on various insurance products in the organization and recommending rates in order to turn products profitable
•   Liaising with the external actuary in order to carry out valuation exercises
•   Liaising wit the National Insurance Commission in order to satisfy their requirements with respect to the organization
•   Responsible for determining the technical liability of the company
•   Assisting the Product Development Committee design profitable life insurance products for the market
•   Advising management on relevant market, legislative and actuarial issues
•   Responsible for the development of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) policy and implementation

Qualification Required & Experience

•   The successful candidate should have a minimum of a first degree in Mathematics with at least 7 years experience in the role
•   Must be a partly qualified Actuary
•   A master's degree will be an advantage
•   Ability to liaise with all levels of management staff and stakeholders
•   Has to be detail oriented, proactive and have good organizational/planning skills
•   Strong interpersonal and communication skills
•   Ability to meet goals within specified deadlines
•   Good judgement and analytical skills
•   Possession of high sense of integrity
