Job Vacancy For Head of Supply Chain At Gold Fields Ghana Limited
Gold Fields is seeking to employ a highly motivated professional to lead the Supply Chain Shared Service team for the Gold Fields Ghana region. This is a key position that will provide strategic leadership in commodity management and supply chain operations within a shared services structure.
As a member of the regional team, reporting to the Head of Region, you will be responsible for all supply chain activities including procurement, contract management, materials planning, logistics and warehouse management across all the mining operations in the region to meet regional and corporate requirements.
Leadership & Management:
•  Lead a Supply Chain organisation that is accountable to deliver required business outcomes across the end-to-end “Source-to-Pay” process,
•  Ensure that all Supply Chain business outcomes are correctly measured against Total Cost of Ownership, Security of Supply and Right Quality targets.
•  Ensure that the Supply Chain Shared Services organisation remains process-driven and that the required skills and organisational structure are deployed to meet changing service delivery requirements
•  Manage and grow relationships with end users as customers of the Supply Chain organisation.
•  Foster and grow internal Supply Chain staff to be professional and scrupulous in their conduct.
•  Ensure that the Supply Chain organisation communicates openly and honestly with all stakeholders, whilst diligently protecting confidential information.
•  Ensure that processes are implemented and maintained to track, manage and optimise the performance of suppliers of goods and services.
•  Ensure that potential supplieisare properly screened before they are allowed to do business.
•  Ensure that Supply Chain risk is managed through proper controls, supported by the right systems and tools.
Commodity Management:
•  Facilitate the timely establishment of commercially astute & legally robust commodity strategies and underpinning contractual arrangements.
•  Drive key commercial negotiations to ensure that contractual arrangements will deliver the best long term, sustainable outcome for the business.
•  Establish commercial alignment with Gold Fields suppliers to drive Supply chain efficiency across the business.
•  Assume full responsibility for the implementation, operation, maintenance and performance of Supply Chain systems across all operations within the region.
•  Assist in major global procurement ventures undertaken by Gold Fields to ensure global supply opportunities are explored, evaluated and initiated.
•  Provide coaching and guidance to Supply Chain personnel to ensure that alignment and resourcing of appropriately skilled staff to provide a comprehensive support service to the regional mining operations.
Materials Management:
•  To ensure that inventory and Warehouse Management plans are implemented in terms of demand forecast and inventory-holding strategies (Levels, vendor held/consignment percentiles, inventory turn and storage locations);
•  To ensure that the Supply Chain Operations unit complies with the required statutory requirements, i.e. explosives Act, Hazardous Substances, ISO 14001 (Environmental), production of MSOS’and that this is applied across the span of the functional area.
•  To ensure that strategic and tactical transportation & logistics plans are implemented for all inbound materials.
Qualification Required & Experience
•  Hold formal tertiary qualifications in supply chain management or a similar business discipline.
•  Possess at least 10 years’experience working in a supply chain role in the mining sector, including hands-on experience in commodity management.
•  Have at least 10 years’experience working in a shared service environment, of which at least S years should be at a management level.
•  Proven leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills.
•  Technically competent in the effective application of MS Office Applications.
•  Content knowledge of supply choin methodologies such as SCOR.
•  Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
•  Medical fitness for the position and environment, and ability to work long hours under pressure.
•  Sound knowledge and experience of SAP tRP systems.
•  Valid driver’s licence and ability to drive light duty vehicles.
