A reputable organization in upstream oil and gas insurance business, is seeking to recruit a competent and well qualified person as Head of Technical.

The successful candidate shall be expected to provide strategic leadership, technical and administrative support for the attainment of set strategic objectives of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

•   Facilitate business strategy development and ensure profitability, in line with the long term objectives of the business and the Board
•   Provide technical support and advice on matters relating risk management and insurance of oil and gas related risks
•   Carry out all administrative work necessary for the proper functioning of the organisation
•   Prepare and submit periodic reports to the Board
•   Provide strategic leadership to ensure skills development of staff
•   Maintain a strong linkage with relevant regulatory bodies and stakeholders for the smooth operation of the business
•   Ensure that board directives and corporate strategies are successfully implemented
•   Arrange the most appropriate reinsurance programme with the approvala of the board
•   Perform other functions as the board may assign

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A relevant degree from a recognised university
•   ACII or relevant professional qualification from a recognised institution
•   A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in technical insurance, 2 years of which must be in managerial positions

Skills & Competencies

•   High sense of integrity and responsibility
•   Good interpersonal, communication and management skills
•   Confident and assertive, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
•   Proficient in use of Microsoft Office tools
•   Proven competence in Upstream/offshore oil and gas (operations, risk assessment, pricing issues in the international insurance markets, interpretation of relevant policy wording/endorsements, claims handling, and reinsurance) will be an added advantage.
