The Health Specialist reports to the Training and Support Manager.
Job Summary
The Health Specialist interprets and contextualizes global physical development outcomes and indicators in the three core ministries. He/she supports the implementation of health as a subject matter expert, collaborator in curriculum development, and group-level trainer. He/she monitors and evaluates physical development outcomes, indicators and activities.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
• Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
• Working within one’s influence, serves as an advocate for children around the world who live in poverty and are not able to speak out for themselves. This includes being informed about the issues of children and influencing others to care about children who are in need.
• Interprets and contextualizes global physical development and health parameters as captured in the PFM.
• Available as subject matter resource to PF’s, CSP Specialists, LDP staff, trainers, and other staff.
• Provides support and advice.
• Delivers content to PF’s, trainers, and other stakeholders.
• Maintains expertise on physical development and health theory and practices.
• Works with PF and industry resources to identify needs, resources and trends.
• Networks with professional counterparts.
• Identifies possible resources and alliances to benefit three core ministries.
• Supports, as a part of the Training and Support Department, the development and implementation of physical development and health curriculum for the three core ministries (where applicable).
• Participates in the design and utilization of the Monitoring and Evaluation Process for physical development outcomes.
• Collaborates with key stakeholders.
• Analyzes reports and epidemiological trends.
• Delivers learning opportunities within the health specialization.
• Can deliver training on different platforms/blended learning.
• Delivers mid-to-large group events.
Qualification Required & Experience
• Mature Christian, based on evangelical Christian values; a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and above reproach in integrity and honesty.
• University master’s level degree, or equivalent experience, in human medicine, Nursing or Public Health.
• Three years experience in primary and preventative health care field.
• Ability to effectively train non-medical personnel in basic health subjects and help lay leadership adapt best practices to the local context.
• Ability to integrate and analyze health data and provide clear reporting, interpretation and recommendations on health strategies.
• Ability to network and build partnership opportunities with other organizations.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal abilities to develop support with the staff and to interact with churches and partner projects.
• Computer literate, experience with the internet, applications of Microsoft Office and presentation software.
• Ability to speak, read and write English, including the demonstrated ability to write professionally presented proposals.
Working Conditions

• There will be limited travel.
