Job Vacancy For Housing Clerk At American Embassy
The U.S. Embassy in Accra, Ghana is seeking an individual for the position of a Housing Clerk in the General Service Office (GSO) of the Embassy.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
•  Incumbent assists the Housing Supervisor in the location of suitable short-term lease residential properties for Mission employees.
•  Incumbent coordinates landlord repairs as requested by Facilities Maintenance Manager (FMM) during make ready renewal of leases and general routine maintenance schedules. S/he keeps housing list, housing view spread sheet and RPA systems up to date and update utilities log with current occupant information.
•  S/he prepares upcoming vacant houses list and other materials for Housing Board meetings and keeps records.
•  Prepares landlord letter to accompany rent check and co-ordinates rent deductions with FMM and Financial
•  Management Officer (FMO) and also assists with in any other areas of GSO as needed.
•  Incumbent arranges for properties to be reviewed by the GSO, RSO and FMM for approval. Notifies landlord of lease renewal in advance and prepare the lease document for signing. Maintains office files to incorporate all correspondences relating to leases, maintenance and landlord responsibilities.
Qualification Required & Experience

•  Completion of High School Diploma (Secondary school) required.
•  Five to seven years’ experience with renting residential properties required.
•  Level IV (good working knowledge) in English is required. Job holder will be able to read and understand including the ability to translate. On occasion, the job holder may need to act as an interpreter in English. Language proficiency will be tested.
•  Good knowledge of local housing markets, residential area and role and real estate agents. Must know his/her way around Accra; and must be able to provide pertinent advice on properties.
•  Ability to work under little or no supervision and to display initiative and resourcefulness in the performance of duties. Must be proficient in the following computer programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and be able to download from the computer. Computer skills will be tested.
SELECTION PROCESS
When equally qualified, US Citizen Eligible Family Members (AEFMs) and U.S. Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate address the required qualifications above in the application.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
•  Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
•  Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
•  Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
•  Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold FMA appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
•  Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
Salary: GH¢21,415.00 p.a. (Starting salary)
