Job Vacancy For Legal Officer At Ghana Statistics Service
Job Purpose
To provide strategic leadership and technical direction for effective management of the day-to-day Legal issues of the Service.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Provides inputs for the implementation and maintenance of GSS’ legal strategy and policies
• Oversees the legal functions of the Service with the objective of protecting the interest and rights of the Service
• Collaborates with Administration Directorate in setting the overall philosophy and strategy in ensuring that all practices, policies and business activities fall within the bounds of the Service’s mandate and the national legal framework
• Provides inputs into the preparation and review of proposed contracts, leases, forms, agreements and other legal instruments
• Provides advice on legislation and allied government directives
• Prepares correspondence of legal character
• Advises on sanctions and other disciplinary measures and interpretation of conditions of service
• Represents the GSS in legal matters affecting the Service
Qualification Required & Experience
• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in law [i.e. LLB or BA (Law)] from a recognised university, with emphasis on corporate law and regulations or its equivalent professional qualification
• A member of the Ghana Bar Association
• A minimum of three years’ post qualification relevant work experience
• Active Court practice
