Job Vacancy For Local Content Officer



Our client is a company involved in the exploration, development and production of petroleum resources in Ghana. Focused on continuous growth, our client is inviting highly skilled professionals to join its high performing team in the following capacity: Local Content Officer

Job Summary

•   The position holder will advise the company on local content issues and implement activities and policies that will ensure compliance within the local content legislative instrument (LI)

Duties and Responsibilities

•   Manage and ensure the implementation of the Local Content Legislative Instrument among companies operating in the upstream petroleum sector
•   Develop strategies aimed at identifying and increasing the use of local goods and services, and human resources in the oil and gas companies operating in Ghana
•   Develop and implement a system to constantly improve the competencies of indigenous companies to be able to effectively and successfully bid for contracts
•   Provide assistance in the monitoring and evaluation on the implementation of Local Content Plans
•   Review relevant legislation's, regulations and contracts with oil and gas companies operating in Ghana

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A good first degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Law, Engineering, Economics or equivalent is required
•   Masters degree in Human Resource Management, Economics, Engineering, Law, Business Administration or its equivalent is preferred
•   Minimum of 10 years experience in a progressively responsible position is required, out of which not less than eight (8) years must be in a cognate position or Business Development / Client Relationship Management role within the Oil and Gas or Mining sector at a supervisory or management level

Essential Skills & Abilities

•   Strong computer literacy skills, i.e MS Office Suite, including Microsoft Projects
•   Strong working knowledge of local content development in the Oil & Gas or Mining sectors
•   Good negotiation skills specific to upstream Oil and Gas or Mining Contracts
•   Experience in presenting and documenting contract agreements
•   Knowledge of document control practices and systems as applied to the management of projects
•   Integrity, attention to detail, time consciousness, accountability, team work ability.
