The British High Commission (BHC) Accra has a vacancy within the Technical Works Group (TWG) for a B3 (L) TWG Maintenance Supervisor. The TWG Maintenance Supervisor maintains and improves the technical infrastructure and fabric of the estate (comprising 55 residential properties and 3 office blocks) to provide a safe, secure, professionally presented and comfortable estate. The successful candidate will have strong property maintenance and health and safety compliance skills. The position reports directly to the Technical Works Supervisor.
The Main Elements of the job include
• Responsibility for implementing the work of a large and busy Technical Works Group, ensuring that both small & large scale property maintenance works are completed safely and effectively, in accordance with prescribed guidelines and to the required standard
• Responsibility for the procurement of services, following official purchasing guidance, liaising with service providers to ensure an efficient procurement process offering reliable value for money service.
• Liaise with the stores person to ensure that the trades have the right equipment and materials to do their job
• Co-ordinate with the Technical Works Administrator on administrative issues and to co-ordinate with the Technical Work Supervisor on technical issues.
• Line manage the trades comprising electricians, plumbers, masons, carpenters, ac mechanics, generator mechanic, welder, painters, TWG drivers and labourers upwards of 30 staff and casuals.• Ensuring administrative and financial guidance is being implemented in the Technical Works Group, including co-ordinating leave, sick leave & overtime returns
• Prepare work plans and work schedules for preventative maintenance

• Strong property maintenance and health and safety compliance skills.
• Strong organisational skills, including time management as well as demonstrating inter-personal skills and enthusiasm
• Prioritising in a fast-paced work environment, working largely unsupervised and delivering to deadlines
• Strong and flexible communicating skills, with a strong customer focus, adopting different styles as necessary (to
internal and external customers)
Qualification Required & Experience
• Degree in Construction/Building trade or a related field
• Experience in all aspects of property maintenance, health and safety compliance and direct staff management.
• Fluency in English (orally and in writing)
• Strong IT skills using Microsoft software and AutoCAD
• Recognized training in Health and Safety will be considered an asset
• Must be able to drive with a valid driver’s license
Salary: The monthly gross salary range for B3 (L) positions in the BHC is
GHc 2399.00 rising in increments based on performance to a maximum of
GHc 3,757.00. The starting pay will be based on qualifications and experience.
