Job Vacancy For Manager of Corporate Affairs and Media Relations At Forestry Commission (FC)



The Forestry Commission (FC) is a Public Sector Corporate Entity compromising three (3) strategies business Divisions and one (1) Unit.

Job Summary

The Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Corporate Affairs and Media Relations Manager will be responsible for ensuring a positive and strong positioning of the Commission with key stakeholders, Government agencies and international organizations. The incumbent will also take a proactive role in dealing with key issues facing the Forestry Commission and the forestry sector at large.

Key Responsibilities

•   Design, develop and implement innovative and proactive PR strategies and programmes to support the achievement of FCs business and strategic objectives
•   Build appropriate PR structures, systems and processes within the Commission.
•   Lead, direct and motivate a Public Relations team to deliver quality Public Relations services at both Corporate and Divisional levels.
•   Interact and build strong relationship with the Media and other key stakeholder groups to deliver a positive Corporate image of the Commission.
•   Coordinate the writing, editing and production of FC Newsletter and drive internal employee communications
•   Write, edit and produce speeches. Press Releases as well as organizing Press briefings and Public speaking
•   Drive communications on the Forestry sector priorities advising the Committee on Public and International Relations of the Board and the Executive Management Team as well as playing advocacy role in the Forestry sector policies and regulatory issues

Qualification Required and Experience

•   This is a Senior Management position and the Ideal candidate must possess an advanced University degree in Communication with specialization in Public Relations.
•   At least fifteen (15) years relevant experience with five (5) years in a senior management position directly liaising at the Chief Executive Officer level and with Top Management, positioning the Chief Executive in the Media and Public at large.

To be successful in this job the candidate should have the following competencies and experience:

•   Extensive experience and track record of success in leading communication campaigns and Media Relations with familiarity with the Ghanaian Media.
•   Outstanding leadership and management skills, high-energy Executive with "can do" attitude.
•   Very strong communication skills especially presentation and persuasive skills.
•   A Team player with the drive and commitment to build a performance driven PR Team at both the Corporate and Divisional levels.
