Job Summary

•   The Schedule of Duties of the Hostel Manager shall include the following:
•   Responsible, under the Hostel Management Committee, for the day-to-day administration and management of the Hostels; the ultimate responsibility shall, however, be to the GUSSS Board;
•   Responsible for the development and maintenance of appropriate Standards of Housekeeping at the Hostels;
•   Responsible for the supervision and discipline of Staff of the Hostels;
•   Responsible for the provision and acquisition of requisite equipment and materials as well as sundry services for the Hostels;
•   Advise the Board on Staff requirements for the Hostels and be responsible for the control and welfare of the Staff of the Hostels;
•   Liaise between the Board and Staff of the Hostels;
•   Responsible for the implementation and reviews of the Tenancy Agreement for Residents of the Hostels;
•   Responsible for the Allocation of Rooms to Applicants;
•   Responsible for the general welfare of Residents of the Hostels;
•   Keep the operations of the Hostels under constant review;
•   Hold General Meetings with Residents of the Hostels, at least, once every Semester; and.

MODE OF APPOINTMENT

•   The Appointment shall be for FIVE (5) YEARS in the first instance, renewable or otherwise after Performance Appraisal.
•   Applicant should be able to serve at least ONE TERM before reaching the retirement age of 60.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Applicant must have a Master's Degree in Housing/Real Estate/Facilities Management/Land Economy and/or equivalent Professional Qualification with a minimum of five (5) years post qualification working experience in the relevant field.
•   (A Master's Degree with managerial experience in Housing/ Hospitality Industry shall be an advantage)
•   Applicant must not be less than 35 years of age to be able to qualify and contribute to the GUSSS Pension Scheme and not more than 55 years of age in order to serve at least a Term in Office.
