Established in 2002, the International Cocoa Initiative (ICI) is a unique partnership between civil society and the chocolate industry, working together to improve the lives of children and to reduce child labour in cocoa-growing communities, as an integral part of cocoa sustainability efforts.
The ICI Secretariat is based in Geneva, with National offices in Côte d’Ivoire (Abidjan) and Ghana (Accra).
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the National Coordinator, the M&E Associate will be responsible for the following monitoring and evaluation tasks :
• Develop tools, participatory monitoring systems and indicators actions at different levels and ensure their application for a decision based on results;
• Develop and implement data collection mechanisms necessary for the monitoring and evaluation system;
• Conduct monitoring and evaluation by involving staff and partners;
• Strengthen the capacity of partners and the staff on monitoring and evaluation at the decentralized level and guarantee reliable Data collection on time;
• Ensure the revision of the various projects data collection tools and programs;
• Ensure the collection, processing and analysis of information collected as part of monitoring and evaluation activities;
• Maintain records of indicators and facts sheets on system monitoring and evaluation;
• Propose to the National Coordinator and Programme Coordinator on the basis of evidence for improving performance of projects and programs;
• Prepare basic documentation for external monitoring missions, supervisory and technical review.
• Ensure the input, processing and analysis of information gathered through monitoring and evaluation activities;
• Manage different databases;
• Support the ICI Ghana in planning and monitoring activities
Travel Requirements
The position is based in Accra with extensive travel to ICI’s project districts in Ghana, with possible travels outside Ghana.
Qualification Required & Experience
Applicant must have:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Statistics, Development Studies, Social Sciences or any other relevant field;
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in monitoring evaluation of agricultural development projects
• Must have excellent knowledge and understanding of methodologies qualitative and quantitative survey.
• Excellent command of presentation and database management and data Statistical analysis
• Knowledge of the concepts of child protection and child labour including its causes, dimensions and effects;
• A strong knowledge of the cocoa sector including the activities that take place in cocoa production and processing;
• Ability to consolidate information from different sources
• Skills in programme development and monitoring, report preparation and knowledge documentation;
• Very strong written and verbal communications skills in English;
• Be able to initiate action at short notice, produce high quality results and able to work independently, as well as be a good team player;
• Be competent in Office Suites (Word, Excel, Power Point, conversant with using the internet).
• Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English, and a Ghanaian language preferably Twi. Knowledge of French would be an important plus.
