Job Vacancy For National Project Officer At International Organisation for Migration



Organisational Context and Scope:

Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Mission, the incumbent will be responsible for managing the Migration for Development in Africa (MIDA) and Migration Policy programmes in Ghana. More specifically, s/he will undertake the following:

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

•   Manage the overall implementation of the project, "Developing a Migration Policy to Integrate Migration into the National Development Assistance Framework for Ghana" in a timely manner and be responsible for the financial, administrative and technical oversight of the project, in line with lOM's policies and practices as well as donor requirements.
•   Ensure the organisation of review and validation workshops, in coordination with Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and Chief Directors.
•   Support the drafting of a comprehensive roadmap, which will include the mainstreaming of migration and the clear responsibilities between the Inter-ministerial Committee on Migration and the Migration Unit, Ministry of Interior.
•   Support migration and development capacity-building within Ghana amongst policy makers and practitioners, including strengthening the IDF International Migration and Development Manual with Ghana-specific information and organising a training of trainers for select migration experts and the rollout of pilot trainings.
•   Implement all activities related to MIDA programmes in Ghana in partnership with relevant organisations, including the Ministry of Health, Ghanaian healthcare institutions and NGO partners;
•   Disseminate information about the MIDA Health programme to health institutions in Ghana and maintain a regular network of information-sharing with relevant MIDA partners;
•   Assist the Ministry of Health in the recruitment, selection, and preparation of Ghanaian candidates for training in the Netherlands;
•   In cooperation with host institutions, provide practical assistance to the Diaspora professionals during their stay in Ghana;
•   Provide regular reporting on the implementation of the programmes, progress achieved, and expenditure;
•   Research and compile relevant documentation on individuals and institutions associated with MIDA, as well as participate in workshops and meetings as required;
•   Organise, facilitate, coordinate, and supervise the training and monitoring activities for beneficiaries of the MIDA Ghana-Italy Project, including making logistical arrangements;
•   Participate in the development of new project proposals on a regular basis and liaise with the Project Development Officer and/or the Chief of Mission to source for funding;
•   Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

•   Correctly frames migration issues within their regional, global, and political context

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Master's degree preferably in Political or Social Science, International Relations or Law or related discipline; or Bachelor Degree with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
•   Minimum two years of relevant professional experience in a similar setting & capacity; supervisory experience;
•   Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy & confidentiality in performing responsibilities;
•   Excellent proposal and report writing skills.
•   Excellent communication and negotiation skills,
•   Strong interpersonal & intercultural skills;
•   Team player; 100% integrity.
•   Personal commitment, drive for results.
•   Excellent computer skills, especially in Word & Excel.
