JOB PURPOSE

The network security officer will ensure network deterrence, prevention, detection, and recovery controls are in place. The network security officer is responsible for coordinating network security efforts across the bank to identify security initiatives and standards for safeguarding data held by the bank. The network security officer will observe and monitor the security of websites, applications, networks, computers and databases. He/she will develop emergency procedures for handling security breaches.

DUTIES

•   Regularly review the network controls (deterrence, prevention, detection, and recovery) and network architecture of the bank  and identify where vulnerabilities exist and make recommendations
•   Review audit logs on IPS, IDS, VPN, firewalls and report all exceptions on daily basis
•   Alert the bank on security incidents based on correlated /aggregated security information and events and recommend incident response activities or recovery solution
•   Work with multiple teams throughout IT on remediation activities
•   Regularly conduct Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Tests on the bank's systems to ensure that all vulnerabilities are fixed
•   Review SLA or contract with network service providers and ensure penalties are applied
•   Monitor network availability and recommend ways to minimize network downtimes
•   Review systems on the network to ensure that security fixes and patches are promptly applied by IT.
•   Assist in network forensics
•   Bank wide inspection of IT facilities  or infrastructure
•   Review the configurations of all off-the-shelf and internally developed softwares used in the bank to ensure that they adhere to best security practices

SKILLS AND EXPERTISE

•   Should have knowledge of business continuity planning, IT auditing, and risk management
•   Must have a solid overall understanding of information technology and information security practices and trends
•   Experience with Juniper and Cisco security technologies.
•   Experience with security and networking architecture, networking protocols, network security design, routers, wireless security, intrusion prevention/detection, firewall architecture, SIEM, encryption, investigations, forensics, and incident response management
•   Should have programming skills

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Minimum of University First Degree in Computer Science or IT
•   Professional Qualification in Networking
•   At least 2 years post national service experience in Networking or Information Security
