Job Vacancy For Nutrition Coordinator At Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) – Upper West Region

Position Summary - Nutrition Coordinator

The major role of the Nutrition Coordinator is to plan and coordinate the implementation and evaluation of nutrition education and food demonstration sessions with objectives to increase the nutritional awareness and soybean utilization of families participating in MEDA’s Greater Rural Opportunities for Women (GROW) project.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Area Manager, the Nutrition Coordinator will:

•   Play a coordinating role in the development and implementation of GROW’s nutrition strategy
•   Facilitate linkages between WIAD and GHS to GROW project communities
•   Develop an effective schedule of sessions alongside WIAD, GHS, and KFPs
•   Collect and review session outlines including topics and key messages taught by WIAD and GHS
•   Facilitate the development and/or revision of visual and verbal materials for sessions and distribution to lead farmers
•   Continue as the point-of-contact for WIAD, GHS and KFPs in GROW’s nutrition strategy
•   Co-facilitate sessions or provide technical support when necessary
•   Ensure efficient execution of GROW’s nutrition strategy
•   Initiate and maintain networks with nutrition stakeholders in the public and private sectors of Northern Ghana
•   Participate in nutrition and agriculture-related technical meetings, trainings and workshops
•   Keep abreast of key policies and trends in the areas of nutrition and ensure program compliance with current nutrition recommendations for accuracy and sustainability
•   Perform monitoring and evaluation duties for continual quality improvement of sessions and appropriate adaptation of nutrition strategy
•   Prepare MEDA and CIDA reports on activities and plans, quarterly and annually

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Degree in Nutrition, Health Sciences or Public Health
•   Experience in community nutrition and/or food security projects
•   Experience developing nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive messages, materials and lesson plans
•   Knowledge or experience in the design of training and support services
•   Understanding of business development and agriculture concepts
•   Strong English communication skills, with specific emphasis on writing skills.
•   Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
•   Experience working in culturally diverse setting
•   A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards
•   Excels at operating in a complex, fast paced, results-driven environment.
•   Appreciation and support of MEDA’s faith, values and goals.
