Job Purpose:
Implement Tullow security policy, plans and procedures to protect personnel, the environment, assets and Tullow’s Oil’s reputation within the laws of Ghana and in accordance with the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights; provide operational and tactical offshore security advice; training and mentoring the national OEHSSCs and; subject matter expertise for technical offshore equipments (FLIR, ARPA, LRAD, etc) and safety/technical/seamanship requirements of the RHIBS.
Responsibilities / Key Objectives:
• Act as Deputy Company Security Officer.
• Maintain the operational readiness of the EHS and Safety vessels.
• Maintain the operational and administrative readiness of the OEHSSCs.
• QA/QC management of RHIBs and technical security hardware including all SOLAS equipment.
• Advise and supervise the procurement, servicing and maintenance of appropriate equipment.
• Implement equipment husbandry measures.
• Data capture and analysis of canoe vessel incursions.
• Liaison with Navy Trainers.
• Training in specific small boat skills to Navy Trainers.
• Training of National OEHSSCs.
Qualification Required & Experience
• Tertiary education in any relevant security discipline.
• Certificate in Management or Marine Operations.
• NEBOSH qualification.
• IMO Level 2 Oil Spill Response Certificate.
• BOSIET Certificate with HUET.
• ISPS Ship Security Officer qualification.
Skills:
• Good working knowledge of planning and implementing security strategies.
• Ability to build relationships and network with external organizations.
• Knowledge of coaching, developing and training security personnel.
• Incumbent should have a military/security (Naval, marine, marine police, merchant navy) background with minimum of 5 years experience.
• Ability to think independently and exercise good and precise judgement.
• Incumbent should have experience of working on small boats including maintaining small boat capability.
• Ability to transfer knowledge and mentor people.
• Incumbent must have good oral and written briefing skills.
• Incumbent must be proficient with Microsoft Applications including, Outlook, Excel or equivalent spread sheets for presenting data.
• Incumbent should have leadership ability, physical strength, good hearing, normal colour vision and a high degree of manual dexterity. Professional courses taken in boat operations will be useful. Any experience handling power boats is extremely valuable.
