A reputable environmental company in Accra invites applications for the position of Petroleum Chemist in its laboratory.

Job Description

• Providing high-level chemistry and analytical support for oil and petroleum products testing meeting ISO quality standard and specifications
• Designing and executing laboratory analytical tests
• Physical testing of oil and petroleum products
• Sampling and analysis of oil and other petroleum products
• Performs instrument calibrations, validation and maintenance
• Interpreting the results sof analytical tools such as infrared spectroscopy, GC-FID, GC-TCD, GC-MSMS and other petroleum testing equipment
• Developing and improving internal analytical capabilities critical to the requirements of ISO 17025:2017
• Ability to work independently at a fast pace

Qualification Required & Experience

• A Master's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or similar sciences plus a minimum of 2 years of experience in oil and petroleum chemistry. Alternatively, a first degree in Chemistry or Chemistry Engineering or similar sciences plus a minimum of 3 years of experience in oil and petroleum chemistry
• Proficient in various ASTM and other international testing methods
• Must have knowledge in ISO 17025 coupled with experience with instrumentation and calibrations
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with advanced analytical instrumentation, such as infrared spectrometry GC-FID GC-TCD, GC-MSMS and other oil and petroleum testing equipment and the ability to make informed interpretation of analytical results
• Knowledge and skills in the area of test design methods and data analysis
• Knowledge in ISO 17025 coupled with experience with instrumentation and calibrations
• Demonstrable strong HSE
