Role Purpose
The Power Specialist (PS) will be responsible for the management of all power and instrumentation systems of Millicom Ghana Limited. He/ She will be required to manage all vendors under this role on daily basis with regards to operations, projects and capacity management. This position will require an individual with in-depth knowledge of electrical, electronic and instrumentation systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Managing Millicom Ghana’s power systems across the country including new projects and daily operational tasks;
• Troubleshooting, repairing, installing and operating all power systems across the country;
• Developing and implementing a preventive maintenance plan for all Millicom Ghana’s power systems and installations;
• Drawing up policies and procedures for the daily, weekly, monthly and annual operational activities;
• Periodic and ad-hoc reporting of all past, present and future activities;
• Formulating performance reports for operational activities;
• Ensuring all related paperwork, including preventive maintenance schedules, logs, schematics and wiring diagrams are updated consistently;
• Ensuring all Millicom Ghana’s generator sets are in good condition;
• Managing and controlling all Millicom Ghana’s power requirements;
• Supporting, managing and coordinating all electrical works by Millicom Ghana’s contractors;
• Scheduling checks and inspections of Millicom Ghana’s power systems on a pre-established schedule;
Qualification Required & Experience
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering;
• Extensive experience in similar with good management background preferably in the Telecoms, FMCG, Mining and Manufacturing industries;
• An ITIL/eTOM and/PMP certification will be an added advantage.
• Good knowledge of procedures, best practices, methods and materials used in the maintenance of all telecommunication power systems;
• High analytical skills required coupled with the ability to troubleshoot problems and recommend solutions under pressure
• Must have the ability to ensure capacity planning is done continuously across all Millicom Ghana’s operations.
• Must be capable of training (on-the-job) entry level employees.
