Job Vacancy For Principal Accounts Officer



One of Ghana’s leading Communication consulting firms in Accra requires a qualified person to fill the position of Principal Accounts Officer

General Duties

•   Undertakes the timely completion of all transactions in accordance with accounting policies and procedural manuals.
•   Undertakes the proper receipt of cash
•   Attends to  daily banking of any available cash
•   Issues bills promptly in accordance with contract terms of clients
•   Prepares payrolls and settles all payroll obligations (PAYE / SSNIT)  in line with times specified by the relevant authorities
•   Maintains accurate accounts of the transactions of the company
•   Completes all transactions authorized by Management or the Board of Directors in accordance with the terms of all authorized contracts.
•   Manages the department in the absence of Immediate Supervisor.

Financial Statements

•   Prepares periodic financial statements and supports notes in accordance with the policies of the company.
•   Prepares financial commentary with regards to the quarterly financial statements (variance and profitability analyses).
•   Conducts analysis of expense and revenue in determining profitability of contracts and events.

Budgeting

•   Assists with the development and coordination of the annual budget process
•   Assists in monitoring and control  of  the implementation of budgets
•   Assists with budgeting for all projects and events

Financial Management

•   Ensures that bills are collected/obtained and settled promptly
•   Preparation of cash flow statements

Record Keeping

•   Undertakes the proper indexing, storage and retrieval of all accounting documents
•   Undertakes the orderly planning of documents in accordance with the company’s document retention policy.

Supervisory/Managerial/ People Management

•   Coaching of staff
•   Assigns duties and monitors activities of direct reports/team member(s)
•   Identifies training needs of immediate team member(s) and recommends appropriate training for them
•   Assesses performance of team member(s)
•   Administers discipline to team member(s)

Other Duties:

•   Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualification Required & Experience

Educational Qualifications (state minimum entry level qualifications):

•   A good First Degree in Accounting or in a related discipline, plus
•   At least Part 2 qualification from  Professional Accounting bodies i.e. ICAG, ACCA
•   Minimum  of Three (3) years post qualification experience in a similar position

Technical Competencies (key job knowledge and skills):

•   Significant knowledge and working experience in Accounting/Financial Management
•   Good knowledge and working experience in Accounting/Financial Management  Software
•   Team building skills
•   Good Planning and Organizing skills
