Job Vacancy For Procurement Specialist At Ministry of Energy and Petroleum (Tamale)



The Government of the Republic of Ghana has received  a grant funding support trom the Government of Switzerland, represented by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank toward the cost of the Ghana Energy Development and Access Project (GEDAP), and it intends to apply part of the funds to payments under the contracts for the Recruitment of Project Staff for NEDCO Project Implementation Unit

•   Remuneration: Competitive salary
•   Job Location: NEDCo Head Office, Tamale
•   Contract Duration: Two (2) years; with the possibility of renewal annually subject to satisfactory performance

Responsibilities:

•   The Procurement Specialist will report to the Project Manager and will support NEDCo to ensure the procurement requirements under the Projects are developed, implemented and managed efficiently and effectively.
•   The Procurement Specialist will prepare annual procurement and work plans for approval by the Steering Committee/NEDco Management depending on the source of funding and monthly and quarterly progress reports as well as annual reports on assignment outputs and end-of-assignment report that will be signed off by the Project Director.
•   The Procurement Specialist will also establish close and cooperative working relationships with the Procurement Specialists of the Funding Agencies in the case of donor-funded projects and the Project Director for all the NEDCo projects.
•   Undertake any other responsibility that will ensure smooth and effective implementation of NEDCO's projects.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   First degree in Public Procurement or any Engineering Discipline and a certificate in Public Procurement with a at least ten (10) years proven post qualification experience in public procurement;
•   Masters degree in Public Procurement or any Engineering Discipline will be an advantage;
•   Good knowledge of concepts and principles and approaches to public and international procurement systems;
•   Knowledge and experience in Procurement of Donor funded projects will be an advantage
•   Computer Literate
