Job Vacancy For Programme Officer (Nutrition) At World Food Programme
The Office of the UN World Food Programme, WFP - UNHRD Accra invites applications from suitable candidates to fill the following vacancy:- Programme Officer (Nutrition)
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Programme, the Programme Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for Health/Nutrition activities in the Country Office including the programme management, implementation and monitoring of the Ghana Country Programme Components related to nutrition interventions. This includes liaising with project implementing authorities and undertaking visits to view project outputs and beneficiaries, in order to ensure that progress is made in the achievement of project objectives.
• Ensure that WFP CO programmes are complied with WFP nutrition policy, criteria and procedures as we as government's nutrition protocol, including food ration scales and guidelines etc.
• Assist in aligning WFP nutrition activities with national nutrition strategies and programmes and promote coherence of nutrition approaches, in close coordination and collaboration with UN, Government institutions and other key stakeholders, particularly on REACH (Renew Efforts against Child Hunger) and SUN (Scaling up Nutrition).
• Represent WFP at national and interagency technical meetings on nutrition and maternal and Child Health and Nutrition and advocate for nutrition interventions as and when required.
• Coordinate, support and offer assistance in carrying out baseline surveys and annual follow surveys so as to report outcome indicators of the Annual Standard Project Reports of the Country Office.
• Support resource mobilization drive of the country office through the preparation of proposals to potential multinational donor partners at the country and international levels.
• Provide monthly nutrition inputs into the Food Security and Nutrition Monitoring Bulletin.
• Ensure compliance with WFP's policies, criteria and procedures with respect to food assistance.
• Provide training and technical guidance for counterpart staff, WFP staff on nutrition related issues.
• Provide technical support and guidance to the WFP Sub-office on nutrition and component implementation related issues.
• Perform other related duties as required.
Qualification Required & Experience
• A master's degree in the field of Nutrition or related field.
• At least five (5) years of progressively responsible support experience in nutrition related field at national or regional level.
• Experience in working with international organizations/NGOs
• Excellent knowledge of computer software
LANGUAGE
Fluency in both written and oral English.
