COTVET was set up by an Act of Parliament to formulate national policies on skills development across pre-tertiary and tertiary education, in both the formal and non formal sectors of the economy. COTVET is also to co-ordinate, harmonize and supervise the activities of private and public providers of technical and vocational education and training (TVET), including apprenticeship

Job Purpose:

Assists in the registration and accreditation of institutions, trainers and assessors and makes recommendations for the registration and accreditation of institutions and programmes in accordance with established criteria.

Responsibilities

•   Check applications for registration and accreditation using appropriate check list and makes recommendations for consideration.
•   Recommend de-registration or withdrawal of accreditation in the event of non-compliance.
•   Assist in maintaining and updating an accurate database of registered and accredited institutions, trainers and programmes.
•   Work closely with TVET providers and interpret criteria for registration and accreditation
•   Assist in performing due diligence in TVET institutions and providers prior to, and following registration and accreditation.
•   Initiate, organises and coordinates workshops, seminars, etc. for TVET providers and other interested stake-holders on registration and accreditation issues
•   Liaise closely with the Quality Assurance Department to ensure that quality assurance policies, processes and procedures are fully integrated into the registration and accreditation process.
•   Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A First Degree in Education – preferably in TVET
•   At least five years’ experience in the inspection, registration and accreditation of educational institutions and service providers in the TVET sector.
