Keegan Resources Ghana Ltd. (“KRGL”) is a fully-?owned subsidiary of Asanko Gold Inc., a company
which is building the Asanko Gold Mine, Ghana’s next goldmine. The vision of Asanko is to become a mid-tier gold mining company that maximizes value for all stakeholders.
KRGL is seeking to employ a qualified person to fill the role below. This is a permanent position with a competitive work roster resident in a single status camp environment. The camp’s facilities include fully serviced air-conditioned rooms, Wi-Fi access, laundry service, wet mess, sporting facilities (swimming pool, gym, volleyball/basketball, tennis, pool tables, table soccer, soccer grounds). Remuneration package includes attractive salary and performance based incentive payments.

Position: Safety Officer
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and administer Health and Safety programs to prevent accidents/incidents and loss;
• Assist line management to develop and maintain a culture of Safe Production;
• Provide advice to line management on hazard identification, risk management, safety rules, regulations, trends, statistics and compliance;
• Participate in accident/incident investigations and attend safety meetings;
• Conduct health and safety inspections and audits;
• Prepare periodic reports and close out corrective actions in a timely manner;
• Develop health and safety policies and procedures;
• Ensure strict compliance to the Integrated Health and Safety Management System and participate in Systems Audit;
• Train, motivate staff and positively influence the safe productive improvement of SHE processes and
practices within the work area.
• Identify, report and participate in the control of hazards; and
• Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Qualification Required & Experience
• First Degree or Graduate Diploma in Health, Safety & Loss Prevention or Degree/Diploma in Engineering or Health Sciences from a reputable institution;
• Auditing, training and First Aid qualifications desirable;
• Minimum of five (5) years post qualification work experience in health & safety in an extractive industry;
• Must have demonstrable accident/incident investigation experience;
• Thorough understanding of Safety Management System;
• Sound knowledge of Risk Management and Loss Prevention processes;
• Strong presentation, organizational and communication skills;
• Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislative requirements;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites and related applications;
• Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving license;
• Ability to work effectively with diverse work group;
• Result-oriented.
• Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving license and have the ability to drive in rough terrain.
