Gastrointestinal Diseases and Endoscopy Centre (GIDEC) a new medical facility at East Legon is looking for enthusiastic and self motivated individuals with a strong interest in endoscopy to fill the following position: Senior Laboratory Technician

Job Summary:

•   Perform daily routine and specialised diagnostic services on patient
•   Perform daily interpretation of diagnostic investigations. Know how to proceed in the event of technical I analytical non conformity.
•   Accurate and timely entry of data onto the laboratory computer system and/or automated analysers using a VDU and keyboard workstation
•   As appropriate record reports for authorisation in electronic form and or verbally to persons authorised to receive them.
•   Quality check outputs including maintaining necessary internal records
•   Be aware of stocks of kits reagents and consumables and report stock deficiencies to senior staff
•   To undertake phlebotomy as required after suitable training.
•   As a Biomedical Scientist in Pathology the post holder is responsible for the delegated tasks required for the delivery of a fit-for-purpose medical laboratory service analyzing and. reporting on blood, urine, (faeces and other body materials to achieve the objectives of efficient and effective patient care, and effective resource

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Relevant qualifications in biomedical sciences
•   An excellent knowledge of automated and manual laboratory diagnostic techniques
•   Previous experience in leadership and management at a busy diagnostic service would be advantageous
•   Previous laboratory experience is essential
