Job Vacancy For Social & Community Development Superintendent At Perseus Mining Ghana Ltd (Ayanfuri, Central Region)



Perseus Mining is a dual listed (Australia, Toronto) gold miner and explorer focused on the West African region. Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited (PMGL) has recently commissioned the world-class Edikan gold project in the Western Region of Ghana.

Edikan Gold Mine (EGM) has a current mining reserve of 3.3M oz of gold from a resource base of 4.3M oz. The Edikan processing facility has been designed as a 5.5Mtpa processing facility with the ability to expand this to 8Mtpa in the future. The plant is capable of producing at a rate of 220-270,000oz gold

Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will report to the Social & Community Development Manager and will have the following responsibilities:

•   Manage technical reviews to identify areas for potential improvement.
•   Evaluate options for improvement in operational performance and implement initiatives to address:
•   Support Senior Management to develop and deliver an integrated communications strategy for the business and ensure consistency of messaging and effectiveness:
•   Responsible to provide expertise and support on community engagement and program initiatives:
•   Provide advice and support to functional personnel required to engage with the community:
Develop robust community frame work for PMGL and manage the delivery of community development programs:
•   Identify community aspirations and opportunities for developmental programs to support PMGL's business objectives:
•   Supervise the administration of the company's land resources and mineral rights lands in accordance with the Minerals and mining Act 206 and Company Policy:
•   Supervision of update and maintenance of the company's land database so that the status of every parcel is monitored throughout the land access process. Implement plans of actions to address issues identified:
•   implement policies, procedures and plans for existing, and new access programs:
•   Administer schedules for compensation payments, within the budgeted resources, and ensuring that the final survey, evaluation and contract payments are undertaken timely, efficiently, accurately and with minimal conflict:
•   Ensure ongoing land access activities are efficient, timely according to budget:
•   Supervise consultants and technical experts as required from time to time. Such consultants and technical experts may include Lawyers, Land Economists, Social Scientists and surveyors.
•   In conjunction with other units, determine land access related needs and opportunities in an assigned geographic or program area; and coordinate with programs of other internal departments, as well as relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies, or public or private groups to meet these needs and opportunities.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Degree in the Social Sciences or Related Area.
•   A minimum of 10 years' experience in community development practice with a comprehensive understanding of the mining industry.
•   Strong knowledge of Land access management.
•   Good Conflict resolution Skills.
•   Good Networking and negotiating skills.
