Job Vacancy For Technical Advisor (Insurance) At GIZ



The Technical Advisor is responsible for:

•   Supporting the Programme for Sustainable Economic Development (PSCD) project on micro insurance in providing technical assistance to the insurance industry in Ghana;
•   Supporting management towards the achievement of project goals and team agreements in consultation with the Project Manager and the Head of Programme;
•   Assist (planning, coordination and implementation of activities) the project manager to deliver the agreed measures with partners. In particular, he/she will be responsible for the Area of Cooperation “Technical Capacity Development” which includes measures such as the development of training methodologies, tools and training contents on insurance and microinsurance and the development of actuarial capacities in the country;
•   Support the implementation of activities in the other project cooperation areas (Regulation and Supervision, Research and Development and Insurance Awareness;
•   Assist in professional research on issues related and the preparation of reports and the presentation of materials to partners;
•   Co-operate with and ensure regular contacts, dialogues with partners in the insurance industry;
•   Handling correspondence in the framework of the regional programme as well as with partners, academic institutes, business representatives and other stakeholders in the programme context;
•   Coordinate and manage the involvement of external expertise into the project context (e.g.consultant, consulting companies;
•   Assist in the compilation of information, reports and documents regarding the project to ensure monitoring and knowledge transfer;
•   Performing other duties and tasks at the request of management.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Insurance, Economics, Finance, Business Administration or Social Science

Professional Experience

•   Have at least four years of working experience in the insurance industry and/or development cooperation and/or a research institution with a focus on financial sector development in Ghana.

Other Knowledge, additional competence

•   Good project management skills
•   Excellent command of the English language and at least one local language
•   Good social and communication skills, team spirit
•   Good working knowledge of modern telecommunication systems
•   Excellent command of MS-Office
•   Command of statistical software a plus
•   Willingness to travel in and beyond Ghana
