A newly established insurance company is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the following position: Underwriting Officers

Job Summary

• The successful candidates will analyse risk in insurance applications/proposals and calculate premiums on the basis of actuarial, statistical and background information

Responsibilities

• Analyse information in insurance applications
• Screen applicants on the basis of set criteria
• Evaluate recommendations from underwriting software
• contact field representatives, medical personnel, and other to obtain further information
• Decide whether to offer insurance
• Determine appropriate premiums and amounts of coverage
• Examine insurance proposals
• Collect background information and assessment of risk
• Analyse statistical data using specialist computer programmes write brokers and clients
• Determine premiums
• Arrangement of reinsurance
• Prepare insurance policy terms and conditions
• Liaise with insurance brokers and customers
• Be abreast of claim processes and settlement of claims

Qualification Required & Experience

• First Degree from a recognised institution or Diploma in insurance
• ACII qualification will be an added advantage
• 3+ years of experience from the insurance industry
• Must be computer literate
• Must possess analytical skills such as evaluating information from a variety of sources and solve complex problems
• Must have decision-making skills by considering the costs and benefits of various decisions and choose the appropriate one
• Must pay attention to detail, because each individual items on an insurance application can affect the coverage decision.
• Must have good communication and interpersonal skills

Location: Ho - Volta Region, Kumasi, Accra and Tema
