The Volta Lake Transport Company (VLTC) Ltd a subsidiary company of the Volta River Authority (VRA) whose mission is to promote viable, safe and efficient lake transport services to link the northern and the southern sectors of Ghana for the socio-economic development of the country and to facilitate both internal trade and sub-regional trade with landlocked neighboring countries, is seeking  to recruit qualified ad experienced personnel for the following position.

Managing Director

Job Function:

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors of VLTC, the successful candidate will, among others, be required to:

Description Of The Job

. Direct and support staff in the fulfillment of the company’s mission, the achievement of goals and objectives and the strengthening of the company

. Create and lead the Management team and approve strategic planning, policy setting and budgetary issues related to the operations of the company

. Manage the day to day operations and internal workings of the company to ensure that it operates on sound financial and commercial lines

Requirements Of The Job

. Business acumen and in-depth knowledge of the transport industry necessary to ensure sound financial and commercial management of the company

. Ability to develop a working plan with the management team and the Board, and execute it with a sense of urgency to deliver on commitments

. People management skills to motivate the team to achieve desired results and ability to work effectively with staff at all levels

. Experience in Port and Shipping operations and in-depth knowledge in the transport & logistics industry

. Leadership skills necessary to set and implement a vision for the company

. A Business Degree, preferably Master’s or equivalent. A second degree/professional qualification relevant to the maritime industry will be an advantage

. Minimum of 15 years relevant post-qualification experience, at least 5 years of which should have been in a senior management position

. Membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g. CILT) at a senior level and showing Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activity
