Catholic Relief Services, an international NGO with offices in Accra and Tamale requires the services of a Nutrition / Public Health Specialist. The successful candidate will report to the Country Representative and will be stationed in the Accra Office.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements:

. A Master's Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
. Minimum five(5) years professional experience in implementing and managing nutrition, hygiene and public health development activities at the community and household
. Technical expertise pertinent to these areas
. Experience in capacity building and skill transfers
. Familiarity with and commitment to addressing gender equality in nutrition and public health required.

Background

Resiliency in Northern Ghana (RING) is an integrated project and partnership effort under USAID's feed the future (FtF) Initiative designed to contribute to the Government of Ghana (GoG) efforts to sustainably reduce poverty and improve the nutritional status of vulnerable populations. The purpose of the RING is to improve the livelihood and nutritional status of vulnerable households in targeted communities in the Northern Region. This purpose will be achieved through three complementary project components:

1. Increasing consumption of diverse quality foods, especially among women and children
2. Improving behaviors related to nutrition and hygiene of women and young children
3. Strengthening local support networks to address the on-going needs of vulnerable households.

Primary Functions

1. Provide technical advice for activities and interventions for the "Improved Behaviors Related to Nutrition and Hygiene for Women and children sub-component outputs to achieve the anticipated results.

2. Participate in a needs analysis at the community level, assess resources available for addressing the needs of vulnerable households, and suggest approaches for filling gaps. This Specialist will consider innovative approaches, as appropriate, and recommend how they may be implemented and their impact assessed.

3. Facilitate on-going oversight and monitoring of implementation of objectives under her/his portfolio
